First skating party!

My 1st grader went to his 1st skating party yesterday...sniff, sniff. He really surprised me a few weeks ago when he said he wanted to go because he never wanted to go last year.

One of the school rules is that parents must attend if the child can't skate so off I went. He even rode the bus from the school (didn't want to ride with me...eek!)

It was SO and somewhat bittersweet to watch him play with his friends like a real big boy. The skating thing went ok. He just could NOT get his balance. My 5th grade niece and her friend offered to help, so I let them. That didn't go over very well because he was pulling them down....LOL!

So...mom strapped on the skates and decided to hit the floor but he decided then that he wanted to play instead of skate...anywho

I guess he's really growing up and I can't stop it...

Mom Spot movie review

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs...

DS and I saw it today in 3D and it was good. We both really enjoyed it. The animation was great and it actually had a bit of a storyline to it. I won't give it away for those that want to see it.

One thing I didn't know is that it's based on a book. Guess I missed that book as a kid...LOL!

I give it an A so go out and see it.

Tae Kwon Do

I've been trying to get ds to do Tae Kwon Do for a couple of years now and he hasn't been interested, which is fine. Well, he decided this summer that he wanted to give it a try!

I took him last night to sign up and for his first class. The program seems really good; it's at a church and seems really positive. I was given the wrong starting time so by the time we got there, he only had 15 minutes left.

He was so cute! He said he had fun. So we'll see how it goes. He gets the first month free and we may have to stop after that until later. Soccer starts in October and there's no way we can do BOTH!

It's the weekend...yay!!

It's been a good week but seemed busy to me for some reason. DS had a playdate this afternoon and they seemed to have fun. Not sure what we're up to this weekend, guess we'll see.

I know what i need to be doing; cleaning this house...ugh! I have really let things go. I can't imagine how I'm going to keep up when I do find a job, between taking care of ds, my school work, the house and a job...EEK...don't even want to think about it.

Speaking of job, I do have an interview on Monday. We'll see how that goes. It's hard to get my hopes up anymore because it's been almost a year and nothing has panned out yet. Anyway.....

Have a great weekend!

School

DS is coming along in school. His nightly homework has gotten a little more involved since he started 1st grade, but he's hanging in there. I'm just so proud of him!

I requested he have a speech evaluation this year and I guess that took place today. I was a little bummed when ds told me because the speech therapist said I could be present but she didn't even let me know when it would be :( Oh well, I guess I'll stop in the office or shoot her an email tomorrow.

I'm taking a break now from work his teacher sent home for me to do...yikes! I used to volunteer once a week in ds' class last year and loved it. I emailed his teacher yesterday to let her know I'm available if she needs me, even for take home projects. Well she sent home a project today. It's cool though. I'll get it done because she needs it for class tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is having a great start to school.
